The characteristics below describe the diamond cuts that you should strive to obtain. This is a good reference when assessing a Round Brilliant diamond.

TRILLIANT SHAPE ​ ​ ​

Known as a Trilliant, Trillion, or Triangle Brilliant, this diamond shape has equilateral sides, but may be a conventional triangle shape with pointed corners or softer, rounded corners on the edge.

MARQUISE SHAPE ​

The Marquise is elongated with rounded sides and pointed ends. It has excellent sparkle and its natural shape provides a slimming effect on the finger.

HEART SHAPE

Seen by many as the ultimate symbol of love, the Heart shaped diamond instantly evokes the innocence and purity of love. The heart shaped diamond is the scarcest on the market, as cutters generally aim to produce more popular shapes from the rough.

EMERALD SHAPE

The Emerald cut diamond is rectangular shaped with diagonal corners. The facets of an emerald cut are arranged in a step-cut fashion resembling a staircase.

ASSCHER SHAPE

The Asscher is a square diamond with diagonal corners and the facets are cut in a step-cut arrangement.

CUSHION SHAPE

The Cushion is a square or rectangular shaped diamond with rounded corners. The cut resembles a pillow or cushion, hence the name.

PRINCESS SHAPE

The Princess cut diamond is squared with right angled corners. It is the second most popular diamond shape.

ROUND BRILLIANT SHAPE
